STEPHEN LANG JOINS BARBADOS INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL ADVISORY BOARD
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados –The Barbados Independent Film Festival (BIFF) is pleased to announce that Stephen Lang has joined its advisory board and will lend his experience as an award winning actor, director and producer to help guide the Festival’s development and growth.
Lang, whose film BEYOND GLORY riveted the Festival’s inaugural opening night audience this past January, is an actor of uncommon range and power, equally at home on film, television and stage. He starred in last year’s thriller DON’T BREATHE and will appear in a host of films over the next year, such as Isolation, Braven, HOSTILES, Justice, and Solar Eclipse.
Additionally, Lang will reprise and expand on his iconic role as Colonel Miles Quaritch in the upcoming three sequels of James Cameron’s blockbuster film, Avatar.
“We are just thrilled to have the benefit of Mr. Lang’s extraordinary talents and experience,” Festival Co-Founder Sir Trevor Carmichael said. “He has been a part of the Festival from its inception and believes passionately in its mission to support the work of emerging local and international filmmakers while providing a platform for exceptional storytelling.”
BIFF was launched in January 2017 to showcase the work of emerging and accomplished filmmakers, producers and actors. It seeks to empower the work of risk-taking storytellers and is committed to discovering and developing independent filmmakers while identifying champions and solutions for a better world. BIFF will hold its second edition January 9th-14th, 2018, in theatrical venues throughout Barbados.
BIFF promotes feature length narrative (drama, comedy, sci-fi), documentary and short films that celebrate resilience and humankind’s capacity to overcome adversity. Special recognition is given to thought-provoking films that inspire viewers to take action for a better tomorrow. The festival also screens ocean-themed shorts at its “Shorts on the Beach” screening, which is followed by the Final Festival Feature and beach party on the final night.
In addition to screening story-driven films from around the world, BIFF showcases the work of emerging, independent filmmakers. Central to its mission is bringing filmmakers to Barbados to share their unique story-making process and facilitating networking opportunities through filmmaker excursions, workshops and collaboration grants.
