When is the deadline for submissions?

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS 19 AUGUST 2018. Your online submission and screener must be submitted and received before this deadline date. Late entries will not be considered.

How can I submit my film?

All submission information must be entered via the BIFF visitor page at https://filmfreeway.com/BarbadosFilmFestival. In order to submit a film, you will need to create a free BIFF visitor account.

My film was made before 2017, may I still submit?

For the 2019 edition of the BIFF, we will only consider films completed January 1 2017 and onwards.

My film has already screened in Barbados, may I still submit?

BIFF seeks to make all screenings at the Festival Barbadian premieres. Occasionally, however, the Festival considers films that have already been shown publicly in Barbados.

Please contact us directly if you have a film that falls into this category, at info@barbadosfilmfest.org

What format is required for submission?

We only accept online film screeners. When completing your online entry form on the BIFF visitor page at https://filmfreeway.com/BarbadosFilmFestival in the fields marked ONLINE SCREENER, please provide the URL link, username (if necessary) and password for your film’s screener.

What are the film sections? How do I classify my film?

You will need to indicate to which section you are applying. We use the following rules to classify films:

  • Fiction feature (60 minutes and over)
  • Fiction short (under 30 minutes)
  • Documentary feature (60 minutes and over)
  • Documentary short (under 30 minutes)
  • Short films about our oceans (under 10)

When will I find out if my film has been selected?

Whether or not your film has been selected, you will be notified. Films are confirmed at different stages in the process and you will be notified of the selection status of your film in due course.

How much does it cost to submit my film?

Submissions for BIFF are free to Barbadian filmmakers; US$15 for submissions to Shorts on the Beach and US$20 for all other standard submissions.

My film is not yet complete; may I still submit?

We do accept unfinished films, as long as they are submitted before the deadline. Please state that it is a work in progress, and also state your expected completion date and final run time. Should your film be selected, you will have an opportunity to submit a final exhibition copy as long as it can be completed by 15 October 2018. However, we do not accept multiple edits of the same film.

My film was selected; by when must I send the final exhibition format?

If your film is selected, we will communicate details to you regarding exhibition formats and the date by which we will need to receive it but in any case no later than October 15, 2018.
